Clan Symbol:
Clan Name: Uchiha
Clan History: The history of the Uchiha clan is defined by the fundamental struggle between the nature of their bloodline and the demands of shinobi life. The development of the Sharingan is tied closely to an Uchiha's emotional development - great sorrow and great joy spur them ever higher. The power this affords is valuable, but the emotions tied to it are useless to the ninja world. A perfect weapon must be passionless, detached, committed only to the mission. Simultaneously, the Uchiha are held to ideals of great passion and great detachment. What this causes in practical terms is the awakening of the Sharingan through pain and loss that goes untreated... or even encouraged.
The clan completely adored the second Yamakage, Kamaru Uchiha. His abrupt death came at a point of high tension between the clans of the Mountain Country, and the clan was immediate to pin blame on conspiracy in the throes of their grief. The village had no obvious successor for the role. The Daimyo was unwilling to step in, knowing any choice would enrage many members of his court. He left the decision in the hands of the clans, hoping they would resolve the conflict peacefully - the village really couldn't be that important to them, could it?
The Uchiha behind the Yuki clan's candidate for leader, while the Akimichi and Kaguya stood opposite to them. Each smaller clan in the village was forced to pick aside, and tensions mounted until eventually the Uchiha secured the village and arrested all dissenters. Of course, shinobi tend to be slippery - though the Uchiha held the village for the majority of the conflict, they dealt with constant raids and guerilla attacks around the village and in the surrounding countryside. This absolutely infuriated the proud Kaguya, who immediately responded through their political channels, demanding the Daimyo act. Once the conflict threatened to spill over to the rest of the Mountain Country, he relented, doing his best to install a leader in the village that would keep all of the clans happy.
Tensions between the clans remain high - the Uchiha still blaming the Kaguya for Kamaru's death, and furious that the 'traitors' who took Uchiha lives during the war have been largely pardoned over the past few years and returned to regular service.
Clan Traits:
-Uchiha-Style Genjutsu: Users who take this trait gain an additional secondary specialty slot exclusively for Genjutsu that must be trained.
-Advanced Bukijutsu: Uchiha who take this can learn finesse weaponry techniques up to 1 rank higher than their specialties would normally allow (SS ranks if weaponry is secondary, S ranks if weaponry is tertiary, B ranks if weaponry is not a specialty), and are treated as having the weaponry specialty when calculating the stats of finesse weapons only even if they have not taken it.
-Katon Mastery: Having lots of resources and communal support for fire techniques, it's no wonder that the Uchiha can manage to learn them quicker than other people. Those who take this trait will learn all fire elemental ninjutsu at a 25% EXP discount, rounded down (I.E., a jutsu costs 10 exp to learn. 25% of 10 is 2.5, which is rounded to 2. The new total to learn this technique is 8). This does not stack with other learning discounts. Should other discounts be in effect, the higher one takes precedence.
Clan Bloodline: Sharingan
Joining Requirements: Be born, adopted, or married into the clan. Birth is necessary to inherit the Sharingan.
