Clan Symbol:
Clan Name: Yamanaka
Clan History: Originally hailing from Hasumura, a small village in northern Sea Country, the Yamanaka have tight connections with the country’s nobility and upper class. After a costly war with Canyon Country around two hundred years ago, which resulted in the almost-dissolution of the country’s military forces, the Yamanaka took over as effective Law enforcement towards the north. They used their political sway and intel to maintain their power strictly, being quick to squash dissent wherever it appeared.
Strangely enough, they also have good relations with the Hozuki, who are often seen as thugs. Originally conquered by the Hoshigaki clan during the unification of Sea Country, the Yamanaka know they are not strong enough to rebel openly, so they instead vie for political sway. It is a tradition among the Yamanaka for the clan head and his family to contain the kanji for ‘boar’ in their names, a remnant from the times when they were still allies with the Akimichi and Nara.
Currently, their district in Shimagakure contains extensive water gardens, where poisonous plants and beautiful flowers alike blossom in harmony. They tend to be in charge of village intel and interrogation due to their hiden jutsu.
Clan Traits:
-Yin Mind-Body Techniques: The ability to manipulate their own minds and the consciousness of other people is the Yamanaka's most deadly ability. Yamanaka who select this trait gain access to the hiden mind-body techniques of the clan with the appliance of Yin release, and by extension are able to create variances how they see fit.
All mind-body techniques can be taught to someone not of the clan by someone possessing this trait at double the experience. However, this act is seen as taboo amongst the clan and if discovered both parties will be jailed and potentially executed for allowing such a breach in security. Characters who learn mind-body techniques that aren’t of this clan are unable to teach others as the hiden techniques are much too complicated to aid others in its discovery.
Yamanaka clansmen who refuse to take on this trait upon creation are described as having a birth defect which naturally suppresses the capability of forming such a unique chakra form, effectively becoming unable to learn mind-body techniques.
-Masters of the Mind: Due to their extensive skill in subterfuge, psychology, and interrogation, all Yamanaka clan members with this trait receive an additional secondary specialty slot solely for Genjutsu.
-Empathic Intuition: If a clan member with this trait has known someone for at least 1,000 words, they can discern their true emotions even if masked by an appropriately apped jutsu or skill. This does not judge intent.
Clan Bloodline: --
Joining Requirements: Be born, married, or adopted into the clan.
