Appearance: An overflowing mess of characters fill the caster’s hand and wrist after casting. When it contacts another, these characters spread to their hand and wrist as well, before fading entirely.
Function: The Binding Word is a jutsu intended to solidify deals and ensure loyalty. To activate it, the caster must use the hand seals first, and then verbally or in writing explicitly detail the terms of a deal or agreement. After doing so, a target can agree to this deal or not. Out of character, the terms of this agreement will also be outlined, to avoid confusion with other player characters.
If one party dies before their end of the agreement is up, then the contract is cancelled for both parties, unless dying somehow fulfilled that contract, or if death occurred after all requirements for fulfillment were met. At any point, one party can ask “What are my terms?” to reveal, in writing on their skin, the entirety of the terms of the agreement before they fade again.
However, no person under the influence of any sort of manipulation from jutsu can agree to the deal. People can be tricked into agreeing to the deal, but the terms of the agreement can’t be falsified, otherwise the contract will be null and void. Parties can be the subject of multiple deals, but no contract can take precedence over another, even if their conditions are contradictory, the only exception is that the same two parties can’t be in two different deals. If they enter into a new contract, the one that occurred later overwrites the old one.
The curse can be undone by unsealing techniques simply before either party succeeds in their requirements, however most casters usually include a clause along the lines of “If either party begins to try to seek out or use techniques to break this seal, they’ve broken their end of the contract.” Additionally, the caster can’t unseal the contract, but can negate it by overwriting the old one with a harmless clause if both parties agree through the same process of creating a deal.
The Punishment for breaking this contract is that their chakra will become infected, a process that kills slowly. It begins in the hand instantly, with skin discoloring into a violet hue and chakra control becoming difficult in that part of the body. If the hand is cut off, the spread of the cursed chakra will cease, otherwise the cursed chakra will spread until the liar is fully infected, incapable of any chakra control and dying within a month. Amputation of infected parts stops this process, but cut off parts can’t be safely reattached. Additionally, the other party is made immediately aware of this transgression, and they’re released from their end of the bargain.
In character, if a character undergoing punishment doesn't decide to amputate the affected part of their body, they will die after participating in five threads, if not sooner.
