Jutsu Element: --
Required Specialization: Taijutsu

Jutsu Power: 10 [Does not scale.]
Jutsu Speed: 10
Jutsu Durability: --
Appearance: The Gentle Fist Art constitutes the signature fighting style of the Hyūga clan - a light, evasive, and graceful one, with a distinct flow and emphasis on circular movement along an invisible perimeter. Though famous for its debilitating fingertip jabs, the style also incorporates throws, locks, and kicks.
A gentle fist strike takes the form of a precise jab or tap to the target's body, from the entire hand to a single finger. The chakra ejected is not usually ample enough to be seen by the naked eye. A small amount of chakra is delivered through the user's fingertips in a straight line into the target's body.
Function: The Gentle Fist is a style of taijutsu that projects chakra into a target's body to attack internal structures, most commonly the internal organs or the chakra network. This technique describes the basic strikes of the style outside of a more refined or intricate attack - generally, a two-finger jab to the target's body, delivering a precise parcel of chakra through the tenketsu of the fingers via Chakra Ejection. This precision is achieved through use of the Byakugan. It is possible that the organs may be attacked without the Byakugan active through a relevant Skill, but it is impossible to target tenketsu without the eye active.
Though the Gentle Fist is famed for its precision, its attacks on internal organs are a blunter instrument than closing tenketsu. Though taking several strikes from the Gentle Fist to the organs is bad news, there are many variables at play - the target's particular anatomy, their health, etc. Generally, the more robust a target is, the more they will be able to weather these strikes. As such, strikes from the Gentle Fist towards internal organs are represented as a stacking Stamina debuff equal to the Power of the technique (in this case, always 10). If the target is reduced to 0 Stamina from these strikes, they will lose consciousness. If the final blow is dealt from a strike to the chest or the brain, they will die in two posts without significant medical aid. A blow to the guts will result in death at the conclusion of the target's next thread if left untreated.
When the Gentle Fist is used instead to close tenketsu, it applies a debuff equal to the technique's Power to the target's Reserves on a successful hit. This represents the closing of a tenketsu, impeding the flow of chakra through the target's body. Unlike attacks on internal organs, there are tenketsu in all areas of the body, opening the opponent's limbs up as an effective target. The target's Reserves can only be dropped as low as 1 in this fashion, at which point they will be fully paralyzed and unable to move their body.
Tenketsu can be re-opened with a touch at the user's discretion at the same cost as a strike, immediately restoring the flow of chakra and reversing the debuff.
Strikes to the chakra network ignore the target's Durability. Strikes to the internal organs do not.
In situations where a the user cannot directly strike the target's body, such as in cases of heavy armour, the gentle fist has a small amount of penetrating power. This is 3cm if the user's Chakra stat is below 50, 4cm if it is from 50-100, 5cm if it is from 100-150, or 6cm if it is from 150-200. The surface of the target's skin has to be in range for the strike to be effective - this is distance to the body, not the distance to the internal structures being targeted. The gentle fist can be blocked by materials specifically stated to insulate chakra, but it can strike freely through materials stated to freely conduct it, ignoring the range limit if it is the only barrier between the user and the target.
Cooldown: --
Duration: Strikes are instantaneous, the effects of damaged internal organs or closed chakra points last until the end of the thread or until medically addressed by medical ninjutsu. In theory, the effects of the organ damage can be unpredictable if not properly addressed and left to heal on their own, but this is not a technique designed to kill a character via heart failure ten years later, so that is outside of the scope of this entry. Closed tenketsu gradually open themselves back up on their own, but not before the thread has ended.
