Kairi Nara
Rank:
AAge: 18
Gender: F
Appearance:
Kairi is a 5'8, 150lb female with blonde hair arranged in a spiked-style and hazel eyes that resemble pools of honey. Her casual wear is normally a black body-length suit with hood, which extends downwards to her knees. The hood itself has a design on it that resembles a snake's mouth, fangs and all. She has a tattoo of a snake coiling itself around her arm on both arms, and a small slash on her left eyebrow that seperates one side form the other. She wears black shoes with a small heel on them to match her outfit, both shoes coming up to her knees in length.
Village: (Unafilliated)
Clan: Nara Clan
Bloodline: N/A
Clan/Bloodline Traits: Genius Intellect, Extensive Medical Research, Shadow Manipulation
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Element: Wind
Personality: Following the traumatic experiences of her childhood, Kairi is known as a liar nowadays, caring little for anyone except herself. She's very manipulative, using anyone and anything to their fullest extent just in order to achieve her own goals. She's very cunning and intelligent, able to devise a plan for any situation right on the spot.
She is someone who was easily affected by her environment and it changed her personality. Kairi, despite her morbid past, has a smirk on her face most times. She’s witty and clever. She’s not a joke or comedian per say, but she tends to poke fun which will either provoke or make you love her. She’s charming and can be happy and upbeat when she chooses, but also has sides where she’s not so much due to the abuse she’s suffered.
It isn't all too surprising that Kairi developed this sort of sociopathic personality, considering the abnormal uprising she was brought up in. Always believing in her own self-significance, in being greater than everbody else, many friends, allies and family, she's discarded them like pieces of trash, not even remembering their names. The only names worth remembering are those of people she can use, and hence, ends up not having any true friends in this world.
Kairi is also very playful, despite her being around the age where people assume you to be fully mature. This comes from her not being able to have a normal childhood. As someone who lived trapped in a village they hated for the most of her days, of course the moment she got out into the real world she'd want to live her physical existence to the fullest. She does whatever she thinks will be more fun, and that's really all the thought that goes into it. Dispite this payful behavior Kairi is down-to-earth when it comes to accounting for everything happening. Even in situations such as personal intimacy, she requires full official documentation of what exactly was agreed upon. All things have their place, and all things must be documented accordingly. That is simply the natural order.
She cannot empathize nor sympathize with loss, sacrifice, suffering. When she sees anyone weaker than her, she looks down upon them, for what she witnesses is how she always receives 'good fortune' when others see it as misfortune. There's a false understanding in the back of her head that she must be special—the most important person there is. With that comes lofty expectations and a skewed view on reality that shouldn't be, and no normal person would have. She's discovered that her abilities are behind the course her life has taken and yet... and yet even still, it is hard to break the mentality she has developed over many years. She maintains this trait as a hypocritical act, behaving high-and-mighty even in knowing the truth. It is simply more toned down than it would have been in her adolescence.
History: How Kairi was born into the world of Shadows was rather obvious, created away from the love of her parents from the Nara clan who formed her creation within the world of the dead and the living. One would not believe that she started so gifted with her clan's special techniques. Her living days would be created from the shadows were naturally more powerful than others, begin able to manipulate her own shadow just a few months after being born. Shinobi of her clan could not comprehend how her existence and power came from. Both her parents were not known to be the best of the clan, so her showing such mastery at such a young age allowed her to constantly be questioned on who her father was.
As a child, Kairi was often bullied and teased. The adults of the village would whisper as she walked through the village. Certain shop owners wouldn't even let her in their stores. The children of her generation picked up on the way the adults acted and continued the cold behavior, calling her a freak and saying her shadows were 'cursed'. It wasn't until he nearly choked someone without even touching them that they started to leave her alone out of fear. Her father was especially cold to her, pushing her harder as if he hoped she'd be worked to death. Though her father never outright said it, Kairi knew the treatment was because of her mother. No matter how many times she tried asking him, his father would go into a rage and beat her, as if he had hit her reverse scale. The only reason she knew she inherited her unusual traits and skill from his mother was from his father's whispering of 'demon spawn' and 'witches child'. During her academy days, Kairi would often skip class and sneak off to the swamps of Numachigakure. She'd never get to be there long before her father or hopefully, the teacher found her. If it was her teacher she'd just get dragged back to school and be given extra work. If her father caught her, she'd get beat and put through one of her father's behavioral adjustment training. Her time as a child and as a student just pushed her heart further from the village. She couldn't wait till she'd be strong enough to leave Numachigakure once and for all.
As a genin, Kairi tried to apply for missions that had her near the coastal region of Numa(closest to Shimagakure) helping local fishermen. How she envied them, having a life of fishing and sailing on the sea freely over a life of being bullied and harassed for being special. She became friends with the local fisherman. Out on the boat far away from her father, helping the fisherman with the use of her shadow techniques, she felt at home. She felt like she finally belonged somewhere. She wished she could just leave Numachigakure and live along the coast and be a fisherman for the rest of her life since anything sounded better than what she currently endured. One of the fishermen, in particular, took her under her wing. The old fisherman was of the Nara clan himself, an outcast who had been banished for exploiting the use of their clan's abilities past their intent. He taught her everything she knew about fishing, Shadow Manipulation, exploiting genjutsu and nearly everything she knows today about being a 'shinobi'. He taught her about using the shadows to her advantage, making them more of a defense mechanism that'll pick up the slack in areas she lacked. He even taught the young Nara how salt was used to preserve fish! Though she hated her real father, she loved the old man as though he was family. They had a bond of father and daughter, despite no blood being shared.
On her 16th birthday, Kairi had gone fishing with the old man to celebrate her day of birth. Unfortunately, her father found out about her visiting this fisherman, and when he found out where she was her father yelled at her, claiming this isn't the time for her to be slacking off and having fun. The old fisherman tried to talk the father into calming down and Kairi’s father shoved him back in his anger. The old man fell on a spear that was sticking out of a crate behind him. The spear went straight through, puncturing the old man’s left lung. Kairi ran to him and the old man gave her a paper. It was his will. The old man had no family and had come to view Kairi as his own. He had left her his boat and what little money he had. His last words to Kairi were "Happy Birthday, my beautiful daughter. You are more gifted than anyone can imagine." Upon saying that the old man died passing away in her arms.
Kairi slowly stood up away from the dead body of the one true father figure of her life-shaking. She turned towards his father with a look of cold hatred and fury. Her father reached for her to take her up to the village so they could report the incident. His father’s mistake was he didn’t realize Kairi loved the old man so much. Kairi backhanded his father, which merely pissed his father off who was already angered over the whole situation. He and his father started grappling trading blows back and forth. Though Kaisui was young and strong his father had experience and as such knocked him on his ass. From there, Kairi seemed to turn into a monster. Her aura grew dark, and from her shadows flung multiple arms like 'vectors' that had taken on the form of snakes. This was unlike any shadow manipulation ever seen by her clan, almost as if they acted on their impulse. They all struck at once upon her command, skewering her father in multiple areas before slicing his head off. Her father just wanted to bring her home and as such hadn’t used such lethal means. His daughter, however, felt no such restriction.
Fearing the punishment for her crime of patricide, Kairi took off in the old man’s boat and left with what little supplies and money were on board. She washed the hole in the man's chest out, removing the salt, then shoves a spear through it again. She sinks the ship to make it look like they were raided. She wasn't prepared to leave the village yet but she no longer had any time to prepare as she wasn't going to turn herself in for killing an abusive man. She fished along the coast for food and money, afraid to return to her home village. It was a self-sufficient living for the most part, and it helped keep attention off of her, something she needed desperately as she'd now have to take up the life of living in isolation while running from her past.
Two years past, and all of Numachigakure had forgotten about Kairi. Her father's death wasn't the most important one to occur, but once they found out his fate and the sudden disappearance of his daughter they could only assume she had been kidnapped while out on the boat they found his body. The body of the old man was easily recognized as a local of Numa and a member of the Nara Clan. They had known that he and Kairi had a special bond, understanding her past history of abuse was the cause of such bonds forming. Nobody had seen Kairi following the incidents, believing that she had ran away from her clan due to the way they and the village treated her, like an outcast. Knowing that she wouldn't be easily recognized due to her feminine features reaching near maturity, she returned to Numa one day under the alias of 'Medusa', cloaked in all black as she walked among the shadows. Why was she here? To get rid everyone who had connections to her bastard of a father, one-by-one. She was smart, spreading her attacks out over a few months rather than instantaneously. She attacked when they least expected it, using her shadow manipulation in a way that allowed her to transport behind other people by using their own shadow as a catalyst. Her vectors seemed to guide her, acting on their own will as if they knew what she had planned. Within 2 months, she had injured a total of 47 men and women, all who had ties to her father whether they be friends, coworkers, or somebody who even looked remotely close to the man who abused her. She could never bring herself to kill them, for there was a feeling of guilt still in her heart over avenging the old man. Word quickly spread that this new person named 'Medusa' might be the cause of such tragedy, so before they were able to capture her and identify her, she fled the village once again, knowing that she had become strong enough to leave once and for all. As she wandered the borders of the lands alone, she would seek guidance to emotional stability from her childhood abuse, hoping that one day she'd be able to control her inner demons and find love within humanity once again, knowing that she currently was in fear of becoming attached to anyone due to how she was mistreated as a child.

Other Notes: Kairi was certainly not expecting shinobi of Numachigakure to try and stop her from leaving after she had slaughtered enough people to give relieve her heart of her father's past abuse. 100 men were sent to stop her, leaving only her and these 1000 men within the area they were located, a few miles ahead of the village gates. Her back was turned to them as they commanded this cloaked woman they knew as 'Medusa' to yield. Kairi came ill-prepared for the fight, but seeing as how she focused on unarmed combat anyways, he barely considered it a handicap, knowing that they truly did not know the full extent of her shadow manipulation.
Kairi still hadn’t come to terms with what had happened with her. She still didn't know of a play that would accept her and help her grow. All of that kindness and acceptance the village boasted about was just a lie. Kairi had control of the current situation, and she knew it. She didn’t want to stop. She wanted them all to suffer, and that’s what flooded Kairi's thoughts the most. She told himself she couldn’t control it, feeling as if the shadows whispered their thoughts to her. 'It' told her that she wasn’t a monster, but this thing inside her was. And then he started to believe it. This fight was likely to try and bring out Kairi’s new powers, and she didn't fear the consequences of it at all She wasn't afraid to use them. She wasn't afraid of the bloodshed she was capable of, so every time she was asked to show them exactly what she could do, she'd do it. This fight would be no different.
She slowly turned around and looked upon the minor army gathered against her. One small girl coated in all black against the finest Shinobi Numachigakure could round up at the time of hearing about her departure. She began to laugh at how mistaken they all were, thinking such a display of military might would cause her to kneel and turn herself in. As she stood there laughing maniacally, the shinobi from Numa began to surround her, encasing her in a circle to avoid her from fleeing. Fear and anguish flushed their faces and the atmosphere around them shifted as she stood there laughing, increasing the volume as she found it funnier as such simple tactics. "W-we...we have you surrounded, Medusa! We know that you're the cause of multiple injuries within the village over the last few months. As an outsider, you are to be brought back to Numachigakure and trialed for your crimes against the village!" the captain of this regime stuttered. His voice was full of panic as if he did not wish to be there. Her laughter grew even louder after hearing the man's request. It was funny to her that they thought the odds were in their favor due to them outnumbering her. "Surrounded?", she says once her stomach stops hurting from the laughter. "All I'm surrounded by is fear...", she says as dark energy begins to overlap her. Her body is swarmed and encased in her own shadow, looking as if black flames radiated around her. Inside, her chakra stirred into something more sinister and dark in preparations for her next move. "And DEAD MEN.", she utters as she lifts her head. She isn't worried about them seeing her face anymore, for she knows none of them will live to tell it.
Her last words were taken as a threat, and as soon as they were heard the men begin their attack on her. Running forth, they sprint to her from various directions. She begins to scream in anger, and as she yells her shadows manifest into vectors again, taking the shapes of arms and they extend from the center of her back out in multiple directions. They are stopped in their tracks as they witness her shadow manipulation, caught off guard by the sheer volume of how many arms she had produced. 20 of her vectors perturbed from her body, penetrating through the flesh of anyone they came in contact with. Men begin to fall one-by-one, her skill proving to serve as a defense mechanism to keep them away from her. As they prepared long-ranged attacks, she fell back into her own shadow on the ground, appearing behind the captain of this regime. Pulling his katana from his back, she slices his neck and watches him fall to the ground, his men shocked at their leader's quick death. This didn't stop their barrage, as they swarmed to the new location she places the Katana hilt in her mouth. A shadow flings forth from the ground and attaches to her back, uplifting her in the air as if she were a puppet and it was her thread. The shadow guided her throughout the battle, effortlessly maneuvering her around the battlefield as she sliced and diced these hopeless shinobi ones by one, her vectors choking the life force out of those caught by their grasp. Once it was done, her testament was true. Nothing surrounded her but the dead bodies of the shinobi sent after her. Such a display of skill drained her both mentally and physically; it took her a while to contemplate what had happened afterward as if she had blacked out during the fight. She was brought to her knees for a while, but after regaining her stamina, she tosses her hood back on her head and continues her leave from this part of the world, hoping to never return until she's ready to claim what's rightfully hers.
