Armor Name: Standard Flak Jacket
Armor Rank: C
Appearance: The most common flak jacket design in the four great nations is a grey or olive collared vest design with small extensions over the shoulder, weighing about seven pounds due to the recent development of durable nylon fabrics, zippered in the middle and extending down to cover the groin. They come standard with slots and pouches for small scrolls and weapons. Different villages will usually have variations in colour, as well as different takes on the standard design that are outside of the scope of this application.
Durability: 40/50
Abilities: N/A
Backstory: The first flak jacket designs were commissioned about ten years ago by Sakyugakure from Volcano Country armour designer Dō Kanna, intended to be a lightweight and durable body armour for their shinobi forces that did not significantly impede movement or stealth. Importantly for the desert village, it was much better in the heat than previous armours. Other villages quickly copied the design, spies stealing the original schematics from the Dō clan very quickly once the secret of the armour's creator leaked. Kanna herself as well as a few of her assistants were 'invited' (abducted) and brought to Sakyugakure to continue her innovations in greater security.
It is derived from older shinobi armour designs, adapted for use as a single piece of body armour using the newly developed nylon as opposed to brigadine or other heavier reinforcement. Shoulder pads and collars are a personal touch from the designer, drawing from modern innovations in the design of manchira armour for samurai in the Steam Country.
Requirements: Usually a sign of rank for Chuunin rank and above shinobi, but technically has no requirement.
Cost to Obtain: 1,000 ryo.
