Clan Symbol:
Clan Name: Nara
Clan History: Having been around for hundreds of years, the Nara clan is one of the oldest clans that remain active to this day, described as a peaceful clan in tune with the various natural gifts of the planet such as wildlife and medical herbs. Starting out as nothing more than a few families sharing similar blood lineage, the Nara clan built their legacy upon the foundations of peacemaking ideologies and conscientious feats, attracting the weaker families who remained victim to the continuous warfare that humans are so easily prone to partake in, gradually gaining might in numbers as they preached of a pacifist lifestyle.
Originally known as Nara of the Forest, they hailed deep within the Nara Clan Forest located in the Marsh Country, tending to the various deer and animals that took shelter after being driven away from their homes during war, aiming to protect the animals which they learned so much from as an equal. Though in order to protect what they cherished, the Nara would begin to improve their combatant prowess in the off chance of needing to fight for their land, focusing and cultivating a pacifist technique to properly render their targets useless. Exploring the appliance of Genjutsu to refrain from physically harming their opponents, the clan soon discovered their natural affinity towards yin release as they consistently worked with the nature transformation due to Genjutsu, happening upon a hiden technique that would become their forefront in strength known as Shadow Manipulation. This hiden technique was a great discovery for the Nara clan, as it was mainly used to paralyze opponents before they could begin harming what was precious to them, their shadows soon becoming their trademark technique and bestowing the courage to begin conducting assaults of their own to drive back any raiders.
Over time, the clan came into contact with the Akimichi clan, and as their interests aligned with creating a more fruitful world to inhabit, the two clans joined in arms and were in direct contact, the Yamanaka clan following suit soon after in a similiar fashion. A strong friendship would birth between the three clans being brothers in arms, and soon the dynamic trio of Ino-Shika-Cho would bloom from their companionship, a power unit where their abilities worked perfectly together to control the battlefield. The Nara clan would utilize their long history of medical procedure to construct a food pill aimed to help the Akimichi’s dietary.
As the wars between clans began to come to a close with the creation of villages, the Nara clan approached the Senju and Aburame in hopes of forming an alliance to secure their forest and homes, having little qualms about the two clans and actually appreciated what they stood for. As the Nara clan joined the alliance, they pleaded for the Yamanaka and Akimichi clan’s to respectively follow suite, though through miscommunication and poor conveying of their intentions the Nara clan came off as if they were ordering the two to follow them, completely disregarding the brothers in arms ideology they held so dear and replaced by nothing more than a hierarchy. Unknowing to the Nara, the Akimichi and Yamanka clan’s were actually bitter rivals with the Senju and Aburame respectively due to clansmen acting alone and performing crimes against one another, building distrust and malice in the air. With a distasteful quarrel, the clan’s left the trio and dispersed to join the alliances which aligned with their goals, leaving a strong tension amongst the three due to the sudden disbandment. The Nara ceased their production of the food pills solely for the Akimichi, and carried on with their lives. The names referring to Ino-Shika-Cho is unheard of in the recent generation of children, it almost being a taboo amongst the clans to support such fickle clans.
The Nara clan continues their research in the medical field and praises their sacred forest like they’ve normally done for so long, typically keeping out of the politics and drama of Numachigakure unless needing to intervene on serious grounds, prioritizing their own personal affairs to keep their peace and allied clans.
Clan Traits:
-Genius Intellect: Revered for their mental prowess, the Nara have been employed as tacticians, interrogators, and codebreakers for decades. Those who take this trait will learn all non elemental ninjutsu at a 25% EXP discount, rounded down (I.E., a jutsu costs 10 exp to learn. 25% of 10 is 2.5, which is rounded to 2. The new total to learn this technique is 8). This does not stack with other learning discounts. Should other discounts be in effect, the higher one takes precedence.
-Extensive Medical Research: The Nara clan have dedicated centuries towards the research and production of their medical understandings, regarded as experts in the field. Over the centuries the clansmen have kept records of their medical discoveries and comprehension in a sole book titled the Nara Clan Medical Encyclopedia which is in possession of the clan at a secluded location, though clansmen are able to derive more knowledge through the book. Members who take on this trait have a natural aptitude to medical work due to their family heritage and own personal research, allowing them to gain an additional secondary specialty slot solely for medical.
-Shadow Manipulation: The Nara clan’s most renowned trait, the ability to manipulate shadows through the usage of yin based jutsu for various purposes. Nara who take on this trait gain access to the hiden shadow techniques of the clan with the appliance of Yin release and are able to create variances how they see fit(can implement this chakra form in any of their creations).
Any shadow techniques can be taught to someone not of the clan by someone possessing shadow manipulation at double the experience, though this act is seen as taboo amongst the clansmen and if discovered both parties will be jailed and potentially executed for allowing such a breach in security. Characters who learn shadow techniques who aren’t of the clan are unable to teach others as the hiden techniques are much too complicated to aid others in its discovery.
Nara clansmen who refuse to take on this trait upon creation are described as having a birth defect which naturally suppresses the capability of forming such a unique chakra form, effectively becoming unable to learn shadow techniques.
